The software installs ok - although it makes you install Microsoft VM (MSFT's version of Java that they were forced to recall after litigation), and disable Sun Java. This may not matter to some as not too may websites are written in Java anymore - they use Flash. it really bothers me that I was forced to install an archaic, unsupported JVM to run this program.The book did it's job - it taught me the basics of G-Code. I was disappointed that the simulator did not understand some g-codes and required spaces between each parameter.I wish I read the previous reviews - I would have saved $50. Now to fix my computer . . .

This was a textbook required for a NC class I was taking. Didn't use it much, but from what I did use of it, it is a bit dated for the more modern machines in use now. It does give you some good basics, and machine G & M codes don't change over time so it is good for that. The software included with is is old, the CNC-EZ program is back from the day of DOS prompts, but it will work on Windows XP 32 bit, but don't hold your breath for it to work properly with Windows 7.

The book is great for any engineering student or anyone who wants to generally learn GD&T. It includes easy to understand diagrams and problems that make the material inside the book relevant. however, this is not for the unlearned, if you are a beginner or a 1st or 2nd year engineering student and have not taken advanced graphics of drafting this is very complicated and hard to follow without the background knowledge.

I could not get the simulators from the CD to run. I have the most recent associated software updates and a well-maintained virus-free newer computer. I saw a disclaimer somewhere while struggling with trying to get the simulator to run that it may not operate correctly with more current versions of bla-bla software, so I'm not sure. Anyway, if the software that comes with this book can't be made user-friendly enough to run with a minimum of hassle, then it's not much good to me. Yes, I will try to get one of my computer expert buddies to assist, but should I really have to do that after paying good money for this book/CD??

Was not aware it was used.

The book is an update to the previous edition. Unfortunately, everything you needed to know can be found in the original version for less $$. The software is buggy. The Java code is "write once, run maybe" and will not install on anything but certain versions/builds of Windows and internet explorer. Great book for learning G-codes, but buy the first edition at a discount.

The software is very old, won't run on my laptop, but the book meets my needs.

Works great, and a good price. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. I will definitely use this product again
