About the Author

James MacDonald is the founding and senior pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel in northwest Chicago, Illinois. I lead a women's bible study group. We have women of various churches/denominations gathered, new believers and seasoned ones. As well as a wide range of ages, from college to 50+. This study has proven to be beneficial for all . It is clear, simple English but so profound. James Macdonald is an excellent teacher, a great balance of both truth and love. Above all, Authentic is simply that, authentic. It's the Word and it does not stray from biblical guidelines. I highly recommend this study along with the videos (which can be easily found online through a search engine such as google).

I totally love this book not only because it's what i need right now on my faith jouney, but because of how James preaches God's word. Like Greg Laurie he doesn't hold back. He shares God's word in a way that leaves me changed, blessed and excited. I'm using this book as a slow study into God's word, reading a portion each morning before work. I also listen to James MacDonald every morning on the way to work, and I have a few of his CD's. My favorite is "The Joy of Selflessness" - check it out.

Bought this book because we are doing a Sunday night series of studies from the program. The book is an easy read and can be accompanied by the video series (free online) by Pastor James. (I would recommend reading and then watching the video.)Pastor James pulls no punches. He backs everything he says up with multiple pieces of scripture (no twisted scripture here), but be a good student. Dig into the bible, read not only the references, but the context. Question what you read and are told. Pastor James is a big boy and God can handle it.I was actually asked to lead one of the sessions and found that if you are taking the lesson seriously, you end up looking at yourself hard. The great thing is that you are provided with what you need to lead a more authentic Christian life. It will require some hard work and dedication, but the tools are all there.

I really enjoyed this study. A lot of it is common sense and things I knew in a sort of "know in your head" way but he really lays down the case for putting things into action.

I gifted this book to 7 people not knowing the content, yet trusting this author. I follow his amazing ministry. I am amazed at the simple truths put in black and white for all to understand. Each person I gifted this book to can't say enough good things about it. Its exciting to see the transformation in them being on fire for God.This book has changed and bettered my walk with Our Father.

For the Christian who wants to go beyond the platitudes that lead to a superficial relationship with God and a hypocritical relationship with society. Meaty and revealing, I learned what authentic faith is and where I fall short. Worth the investment of time.

The book does a good job of putting scriptural concepts in an order that is helpful to those of us who place a high priority on worship. The material is all there in the Bible. Still it helps to have it organized in this way. Mr. MacDonald has done a good job of showing how to maintain a regular spiritual life.

This book, used as a companion to the video series, is excellent and thought provoking.
