This book was so good, my only gripe is that it was so short. Some Fantasy books take themselves too seriously, there is no chance of that here. Funny right out of the box, just read the title. Great premise.Highly recommend this book.

In this book John Scalzi has tickled our imagination and our fancy with this short. Honestly I did not look at the page size because I was familiar with the author's work. Scalzi has never failed to please with his books about people and their relationships. You do need to be careful that others not see a tear in your eye, or are startled when you laugh out loud.Others have said that it is too short, but the title does say "A prologue". We should infer from that that it is not the whole story. It is still well written and contains his special blend of humor. If you don't want to pay for it, don't get it, but remember if the author finishes the story later you may need this for clarification.

I can read this for free online, but I finally had to have my own copy to read anytime. Be careful reading this in "public", people may stare at you when you laugh out loud. Tears were running down my face. I want him to continue the story.

Short, sweet, and the plucky comic style of Mr. Scalzi. You want length, no dice. You want to laugh uncontrollably for say fifteen twenty minutes and have everyone stare at you then please grab it. For the grammataphobes eh, seek elsewhere I think the ironic humor would be lost to you. To Mr. Scalzi more, please. Take your time and format a more flowing sequence of events instead of "present-history-present-history-ironic question"

Once again, a short story by John Scalzi, written with wit, with a great knowledge of the genre and what we have read before. So a great knowledge of how not to give us more of the same, but a unique twist, smart writing... always a pleasure. And while this text is more a wink than a serious attempt (I suspect mr. Scalzi to be as bored with fantasy as many of us are), it remains a very pleasurable read.

I am not familiar with this author but after this fully intend to become so. This is the best short story I have read in a long time. I am not fond of short stories as I prefer novels so as to get better acquainted with the characters but this was such a fun read. I totally recommend it to all.

I usually like this author, but this isn't even a full story and it was irritatingly "cute'. I do not recommend it .

I understand this was a little challenge the author undertook when writing this over-the-top story about dragons, adventurers and life in a fantasy world. Even making it preposterous made it even funnier. It's just a taste, but oh so savory! I loved it!
