I took a long time reading this excellent book by Frank MacEowen. I did so because I had been studying shamanism for a while and what is most predominant here in the U.S. is some form of "native American" shamanism. I studied that and found it beautiful but something about it did not feel right. My ethnicity is mostly Celtic and when I started to explore in that direction, I knew I had found my roots. I won't bore you with the rituals I did that made this evident to me, but I will tell you that if you are looking for a spiritual path, then the work of Frank MacEowen is a very good place to start.This book is very thoughtful, very well tied together in the way it mixes myth, memory, tradition and ritual to bring about a sense of belonging in the world and a sense of the importance of developing oneself as a spiritual being. Highest recommendation. Take your time with it.

Well written and informative. For the (celtic) seeker...transformative. History was lacking in my family...this book gave me a sense of connection and a place to start my own path to understanding my ancestry. The earth-based spirituality along with the three spiral paths opened up new perspectives on my own internal understanding of my (Irish) soul and its urgings. Somehow I just knew that there were shamans in Ireland.

I have enjoyed the last two books by this author. I always find a few very interesting concepts and lore in his writings. Much of his writing is a "roll your own" mash up of Trans-personal Psychology, Celtic mysticism, and reinterpretations of Celtic history. An enjoyable read. I especially like his stance on the necessity of a new shamanism, rather than trying to channel the Druids of the past. Most everything I read about ancient Celtic and Irish religion is only educated guesswork anyway. The ancient Celts were not literate, so religious practices were not written down anywhere. And by the time they were Christianized, who knows how much of their former culture and beliefs made it into writing.The tales of the Celts from the Romans have to be taken with a grain of salt. How accurately have Europeans recorded the culture of the people that they supplanted? MacEowen's reinterpretation with some license is a fun read. I highly recommend his retelling of the "Settling of the Manor of Tara" from "The Celtic Way of Seeing". Again, take what you like. As a descendant of the Emerald Isle...I find much to appreciate in MacEowen's writing.

I'm just part of the way through this book and I'm mesmerized. It really hits home. Thank you Frank. What a wonderful Spirit and great Lightworker you are! Thank you for sharing your story too... I feel a trip to Ireland is in my near future!

This was represented as a collectors edition book. Photos were of the book, I was expecting a book.. What we got was an editors copy, 8 1/2 X 11 with huge margins, the size of a medium town phone book. It is O.K. Different and not what was represented or expected.

I am a reiki master. As I started reading this book I was struck by the simularities between Dana energy and Reiki energy. I believe them to be the same. This book explained some of the imagery in my initiation visions. It is a great book for energy workers and those who are begining or in the process of shamanic initiations. This book is more profound than his first book. It is more on am intermediate level. I strongly recomend it and for those more interested in Dana energies I recomend Reiki

I would like to recommend this wonderful book on Celtic Shamanism. The Spiral of Memory and Belonging is a journey of the soul, and our connection with the earth and spirit realms that our ancestors were attuned to.There are exercises in here to help you get in touch with your ancestors, and explanations as to what a shaman really is. This book really opened my eyes to the Otherworld.I bought this book to help me to understand the ancient tribes of Scotland. I found that and much more. I discovered my own hidden spirituality. It was a very inspirational book for me and written in a poetic style that made it a joy to read.

Having read Frank MacEowen's previous book 'The Mist Filled Path' I looked forward to this book with much enthusiam and wasn't dissapointed. His writing style is refreshing and has an openness, a flow and honesty to it that has you feel as if you are sharing his personal journey with him. Another aspect I like about his approach is that he is a practioner of shamanism exploring his Celtic heritage, rather than another person trying to produce yet another book on "Celtic Shamanism". Therefore this book would be appealing to anyone with an interest in shamanism, or Celtic spirituality, and the way he has approached this book you could easily apply it as a metaphor or "frame" with which to explore your own natural landscape and spirituality even without sharing an exact experience or realisation as the author comes to. I really connect with what he has written, and this is the first book I have read that gives an outline anywhere near to my own journey and experience. I thank him for that and for sharing this book. This book might not appeal to those who re-invent a spirituality based on the study of academic history texts, but if you have an open mind and heart and are willing to ask questains and explore within the realms of spirit then you may also may find a connection within the journey of this book.
