About the Author

Randy Leffingwell wrote his first book, American Muscle, in 1989 while still on staff at the Los Angeles Times. Since then, he has authored another 47 titles for Motorbooks and sister publisher Voyageur Press, including his most recent Complete Book of Porsche 911 and Corvette 60 Years.He has just finished Porsche 911: Fifty Years, a reexamination of the 911 story based on nearly two dozen new interviews. He lives in southern California, about 100 miles north of Los Angeles.

Another fine example of Leffingwell's Porsche publications. Yeah, I know, it's a few years old and they all look like over sized Porsche sales pamphlets, but, so what. There is a huge store of visual and written information here at a giveaway price ( especially if purchased used ). If you are a Porsche 911 owner, or simply wish you were, I'm certain you have one of these on order, on the coffee table, or the book shelf.

Good book covering not much new but good stuff!

This book was certainly an interesting read. It provided some good insight into the history of the Porsche 911 and the innovations that were made. I was somewhat disappointed however in that I was hoping the book would tell me what was good or bad about a particular model; it didn't. I also would have liked photos of the models being discussed incorporated with the text. Overall, I enjoyed the book and better understand the decisions made by Porsche as the company matured.

Super history of an excellent high perfromance automobile.

Although it doesn't have the technical details of Frere's "911 Story", I think for most of us this is a better overall book. I also recommend Leffingwell's "Porsche Legends". If you are a Porsche 911 fan, this is well worth having.

Great book for the Porsche lovers!

I found this to be the best history of the 911 yet from the perspective of telling the back story of the car and the story behind the doors at the Porsche design studio. This book also had stories I had never read before and never before seen pictures. I really like this one.
