This was an amusing, sweet story until it became x-rated. The author's explicit descriptions of the intimacy between Willow and her prince turned a rather delightful story into smut.
I love the humor in Teresa Medeiros’ books and this is probably my favorite. The best thing about her books isn’t any attempt at real historical accuracy but the character development that’s too often missing in any romance novel. This isn’t about gratuitous sex, either, just a lovely romance.
The mystical and legendary warrior, Lord Bannor the Bold, of Elsinore has returned home as a widower, to develope a long-lasting kindship with his twelve children, since the war with the French has now ceased. However, Lord Bannor couldn't believe his eyes, that such a feat would be accomplished without any guidance or assistance from another. Until he becomes the main source of his hoard of misfits wayward behavior.Bannor sends his steward, Sir Hollis to obtain a proper and worthy mother and a homely bride for himself, because he NO longer wishes to create any more demon spawns with his beneficial seed. For rumor has it, by just one quick glance into Bannor's eyes, could cause any fair maiden to become pregnant with his child.Long and behold after combing all of England, Sir Hollis finally caught a view of a DEVINE creature, someone who resembles the Madonna.Lady Willow of Bellington, long ago desired a mother as well. Someone who possessed a kind hearted disposition, who would take her under her wing, and teach her all that was to be learned by a mother's love. However, what she received was her very own nightmare. The woman who became her, "mother," treated Willow nothing more a than a servant/nursemaid, who couldn't be bothered with formalities of being the one person she craved the most. Willow's own father never prosecuted his new flushing bride, due to the treacherous behavior she bestowed upon his ONLY child produced in a LOVEABLE marriage. He stepped aside while condemning Willow to the life of servitude, of taking care of her venomous step-sisters and step-brothers. Willow would like nothing more than her freedom, but with her current situation, she was unlike to come across such liberties.Until Sir Hollis makes an offer for Willow that NO one could refuse! When Willow arrives to Elsinore, she couldn't believe her fortune, for she was finally FREE! However, with all freedom comes a hefty price.Willow is a SPITFIRE, WORD SWASH-BUCKLING, VIXEN. 'Causing NOTHING but a TEMPTATION within Bannor's well concealed heart. Matching his every whim to persuade her to venture a different direction - - - only to realize his third wife might have what it takes to CAPTURE his devilish imps of children, and himself in a VISE of INDISPUTABLE LOVE!**Beatrix was a much vital distraction to this novel, especially when all you wanted to do was knock some sense into Bannor & Willow.**Such MAGNANIMOUS Men ONLY Exist in the Realm of a Fantastic Medieval Romance or for that matter a romance novel in general.WELL DONE MS. The historical inaccuracies just killed this for me. Often I don't mind if the characters don't exactly speak the way they should for the era the book is set, or if there is the odd out of a place piece of weaponry or mode of transport, but this book had so many things wrong I was constantly drawn out of the story (not that I was all that 'engrossed' anyway). At no point did I find myself feeling any sympathy or liking towards 'Bannor the Bold' *snort*. I can't think of a weaker male MC I've ever come across (there have been quieter, 'bookish' types but they didn't appear nearly as weak as Bannor). I think if a real knight (or whatever he was) of that era was beaten (physically and mentally) by his own children with his men watching on, those men would lose all faith in him. If he can't control a group of children aged 13 and under, how's he supposed to control an army against the rampaging French? The Cinderella connection was tenuous and didn't add to the appeal of the story, in fact I didn't really like all those children. In my head they all looked the same - grubby faces with ratty hair and dirt-smeared and torn clothes (how could they look otherwise with the amount of trouble that lot got into?) and all I wanted to do with them was put the fear of ME into them (as my mum always said, no child of mine is going to behave in that way and get away with it). Then we had the ridiculous reference to Snow White, which was nearly 500 years too early for the 1360 date of this story. There was also the always irritating typos - grammar and spelling, but (YAY) the punctuation was fine - and a couple of cases of the author not knowing what the word she was using actually meant.I also wasn't happy (although, not all that surprised) when I discovered that the story finished at 93% or on page 337, the rest was advertising and samples of the books that made up the rest of the series.Unless there was another Unapologetic Romance Readers BR I highly doubt I'll be paying money to read any further into this series.
Awesome the writer puts all of her heart and soul in the this book and you can feel it when you read this book this book had me laughing until I was crying I was down and I don't and it sure pick me up
THis is my first book by Teresa Medeiros. I was very surprised, but in a good way. I have no idea why I had never before read her work. Medeiros has a nice style and a talent for writing out characters and describing things page after page that leaves you feeling as if you were a character in the setting she provides. Charming the prince was a story set in England, in the late middle ages , the 1300's. this is a bit earlier from my Regency usual read. However it was no less appealing and entertaining. Both main characters were greatly portrayed and enjoying. It had many laugh out loud moments and times when I half wanted to wring someone's neck. It was a very nice surprise. I plan on definitely giving a try to Medeiros other books.
